Michaels is a great destination for home decor, crafts, baking accessories, and art supplies. They carry a lot of useful organization gear, from plastic boxes to furniture full of drawers. They’re also a reliable source for gifts, both for kids and adults. And, of course, they have a variety of coupons you can take advantage of to keep your costs low. Couponing at Michaels can help you fill your home with pretty things, and fill your time with interesting projects.
As with everywhere, sign up for their email list to get coupons delivered to your inbox. This is the easiest reliable way to get discounts.
Regular Sales
Next up is to check their website for sales. Finding offers of 40% off your regular priced merchandise happens often enough that it’s worth checking for.
They have a set of simple white drawers that are popular for creating a makeup vanity with. Two sets of drawers + a table top and your vanity is ready. These drawer sets, and all of their crafty organizational furniture, goes on super deep discount sale around twice a year during a ‘best of the season’ sale. If you want any of this furniture during one of those sales you have to be FAST. Make your plan well in advance, so that you know exactly what you want to buy, as popular things can sell out within hours.
If you’re not trying to buy furniture, other products regularly go on sale, and have extra coupons available to add on. If you’re buying online I’ve often found Honey to have much better coupon codes that what’s been published widely, so always check them for the best price.
The only way to earn through an app with Michaels (that I know of) is to pay with Ibotta in store. I don’t use the pay with Ibotta feature, so I don’t know how well it works, but it’s currently at 7% back so it may be worth the effort, especially if you shop in store a lot.
Clearance
Sometimes Michaels has some outrageously good in-store clearance merchandise, as well. Usually things like kids toys and novelties, but I’ve found some absolute steals on yarn, too. Clearance is especially likely to be good right after major holidays, and be heavily stocked with holiday related merchandise. A lot of that stuff isn’t necessarily branded to that holiday, though, so it isn’t just buying up Christmas ornaments for next year.
Framing
If you need something framed, you should never, ever, EVER, pay full price. EVER. There is ALWAYS a coupon and/or discount available, check their website coupons on your email coupons to find it. I don’t even know why the post framing prices the way they do, because they are ALWAYS on sale or coupon.
Organizing
Michaels is a good place to look for coupon organizing supplies. They have lots of office, stationary, and calendar related goodies that can help you organize coupons, or journal your wins. Colorful pens and cute paperclips can be used to improve your ability to find what you need to when couponing. And it’s all really fun, which is always a nice bonus. Just because you’re saving money doesn’t mean things can be cute.
Weddings
And last, but not least, if you’re planning a wedding and DIYing any of it, Michaels can be a great source for decor, party favors, and invitation supplies. They have a lot of good bulk buys, and stay current on trends in weddings and party planning.
Like so many specialty retailers, you’re playing within their coupon and sale game to try to get discounts, but there’s also a lot of competition in the craft store market. If you’re planning ahead and checking in regularly, you can find some pretty ridiculous coupons and sale prices on cute and useful merchandise.
